RW Defense is pleased to be hosting John Murphy of FPF Training in Virginia for this 2-day. Training will take place at Golden Triangle Gun Club in Beaumont, Texas.
Place: Golden Triangle Gun Club, Beaumont, TX
Time: 9 am – 5 pm
Date: Saturday and Sunday, September 17-18, 2022
Rounds: 250
Price: $425 (please note that for non-members, there is a $20 range fee that will be collected at the beginning of the class by the gun club)
Course Description:
Street Encounter Skills and Tactics is a 2.5 day, 24-hour course designed to inform and instruct lawfully armed citizens in their defensive decisions and equip them with realistic skills that enable an effective and lawful approach to personal security. Employing a highly dynamic combination of lecture, demonstration, and practical application, the course goes past the concentration on shooting skills that most concealed carry classes focus on and provides a combination of “hard” and “soft” skills and strategies “beyond the gun” that opens minds and options for armed citizens.
The class consists of four hours of video “view ahead”, followed by four hours of lecture and practical application on Saturday, and then six hours of intensive pistol skills. Sunday is 100% range time incorporating those lessons in a challenging and PRACTICAL live fire environment. Your mind will be educated on how to use your mind, mouth, your feet to achieve situationally appropriate de-escalation or use of force. Cost is $425 with 250 rounds required for the class.
Specific course content and methodology relies heavily on incorporating the science of “Recognition Primed Decisions”, deriving lessons from security videos of actual events and honing the skills most needed by ordinary people that find themselves in extraordinary circumstances.

Instructor:
John did ten years in the Marine Corps and currently works for the Department of Defense, but he makes no claim to being a combat veteran. He considers himself very fortunate to have trained under some of the most respected firearms instructors in the country, and he’s learned much more about shooting and self-defense outside the military than he ever did during his service. As an instructor, John has incorporated the best and most practical methods and techniques into his courses, and he continues to train and refine his skills every year, both as a defensive shooter and as a trainer. John has presented classroom and range instruction at the multiple Rangemaster Conferences, and currently holds a “Master Instructor” rating from Rangemaster, and is a graduate of Massad Ayoob’s “Lethal Force Instructor” program.
